Google is known for updating its Android apps on Wednesdays, just like it did in early February when it rolled out fresh versions of Hangouts, Maps and more. Apparently Google felt like today would be another good Wednesday to push out some updated apps, because both Google Play Games and Google Text-to-Speech received some pretty beefy updates today.
First up is Google Play Games, which has been bumped up to version 1.5. This update brings with it support for viewing multiplayer game invitations that you've received as well as the games that the people in your circles are playing. Google has also relabeled the "Recommended Games" tab in the sidebar to "Find Games." Finally, support for pull-to-refresh has been added to the Google Play Games leaderboard.
The other app that's gotten a refresh today is Google Text-to-Speech. This latest update brings the app up to version 3.0 and packs in higher quality voices, a male voice for U.K. English and support for both Portuguese and Spanish. Google also made some small tweaks to the app's UI, like the ability to toggle between voices when there are multiple options included in a voice pack.
Both app updates sound pretty spiffy. The ability to view invitations and see what games your friends are playing could make Google Play Games much more useful, especially for multiplayer, while Text-to-Speech's voice quality improvements ought to make the app more attractive to anyone that uses it.
