Rumored details of the Samsung Galaxy S5 have been steadily trickling out in recent weeks, including talks of a fingerprint sensor in the home button and a 5.2-inch display. Today some more information about Samsung's next flagship have leaked out, and this time the focus is on the device's camera.

Sources speaking to SamMobile claim that the Galaxy S5 will feature a 16-megapixel rear camera with support for 4K video capture. Interestingly, Samsung is said to have added a small sensor in the bottom of the S5's right side, which is the same spot that's typically home to a smartphone's dedicated camera button. This sensor is known as "Side Touch" and is expected to allow users to simply tap the side of the phone to snap a photo. However, it's said that Side Touch won't work while the phone is in portrait mode, Easy Mode or while recording video.

Unsurprisingly, Samsung is also expected to be adding a number of software features to the Galaxy S5's camera app. These include a number of new camera modes, like Continuous Shot and 3D Tour Shot, the latter of which is described as creating "interactive virtual tours" of a user's surroundings. Also said to be coming is a multitude of camera effects, such as Sepia and Nostalgia, and a refreshed camera app user interface with a new color scheme that'll match the overall theme of Samsung's software.

The Galaxy S5 will be one of the most important pieces of mobile hardware that Samsung releases in 2014, so it's no surprise to learn that the company is planning to beef up its camera from the Galaxy S 4, especially with the heavy focus on camera performance that we've seen in wireless lately. As for all of those new software features? Samsung is known for loading its phones and tablets up with custom features, and while it's unlikely that a user will take advantage of every single one that's built into the S5, it'll be nice to at least have those features available.
