Many manufacturers follow an annual refresh cycle when it comes to their flagship hardware, updating their wares around the same time each year. LG tonight showed that it's one of those companies, confirming that the LG G Pro 2 will debut in February, just a little over a year after the original LG Optimus G Pro (shown above) was introduced.

While it didn't offer up any details on exactly what kinds of goodies we can expect to see included with the G Pro 2, LG did take the opportunity to tout the sales figures of its past G series hardware. The Life's Good crew says that the original Optimus G, the Optimus G Pro and the G2 have all enjoyed domestic sales of over 1 million units each. Focusing on the Optimus G Pro specifically, LG claims that consumers liked the device's full HD display and the custom LG user interface that came preloaded on each unit.

So how might LG be planning to follow up the Optimus G Pro? Well, considering that it touts the OG Pro's full HD display and that the G Pro 2 will likely be a flagship phone, a display resolution of 1080p or higher seems like a pretty safe bet. We can also probably count on a screen size of at least 5.5 inches to match the Optimus G Pro as well as a quad-core processor. What will be interesting is seeing if LG ends up using rear-mounted volume and power keys on the G Pro 2 like it did with its most recent flagship releases, the G2 and G Flex, or if it'll revert to the physical home button and twin capacitive key layout like the one found on the Optimus G Pro. Good thing that we don't have to wait long to find out.
