When LG first introduced the G2 back in early August, much of the attention that the device got was focused on its "Rear Key concept," which involved LG taking the G2's volume and power buttons and placing them directly beneath its rear camera rather than on the side of the unit where they're typically found. That wasn't the G2's only unique new feature, though, as the device was also the first to feature KnockON, a software add-on that allows the user to wake the G2's display simply by tapping on its screen twice.

LG has ported KnockON to other devices since the G2's debut, including the G Pad 8.3 and G Flex, and now the company says that it plans to roll it out to even more of its Android-powered smartphones. LG recently announced that it will bring Knock (the new name of the KnockON) to its L Series II family of products. The feature will be included as part of a maintenance update that's expected to begin going out in January 2014.

The ability to double-tap on a phone's display to wake it from sleep may not seem like a major feature, but it's actually a nifty little add-on that can be slightly quicker than having to reach for a device's power key. It's good to see that LG will be porting Knock to even more of its device lineup, especially considering that the L Series II family is a bit lower-end than the G-branded hardware that Knock has been available on so far.
