Ting customers have been benefitting from Sprint's network rollouts and device lineup since the MVNO launched in early 2012, and that continues today with the addition of Sprint Spark-compatible hardware to Ting's lineup. The operator announced on its blog today that it now offers access to Sprint's Spark tri-band LTE service, which utilizes 800MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz spectrum to offer consumers with Spark-compatible hardware better coverage and faster speeds than regular LTE. The tri-band LTE service is currently available in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tampa and Miami.
What about tri-band LTE compatible hardware, you ask? Ting's got you covered. The company today added the Samsung Galaxy Mega and Galaxy S4 mini to its lineup, which are priced at $476 and $402, and it says that the LG G2 will arrive on its shelves soon. The Nexus 5 is also compatible with the tri-band LTE service. Ting also offers two tri-band LTE data devices from Novatel, the MiFi 500 and the Zing.
While its Spark tri-band LTE service has a fairly small footprint right now, Sprint has said that it intends to roll Spark out to approximately 100 of the top U.S. cities over the next few years, so Sprint and Ting customers have that to look forward to. It's also worth noting that Sprint recently added 70 more cities to its 4G LTE footprint, giving Ting subscribers access to some piping hot LTE coverage as well.
