I've got some good news and some bad news, friends. You want the good first? Alright, here goes. That red HTC One max that we saw leak out in some carrier promotional materials earlier this month is the real deal and is actually available for purchase right now from Taiwanese online retailers for NT$23,900 ($805 USD). The bad news? HTC hasn't made any announcements regarding the red One max's availability outside of Taiwan, so for now it looks like you may have to hit up your favorite travel site and book a flight there or perhaps find yourself a new pen pal.
The red HTC One max features the same specs as its silver and black counterparts, including a 5.9-inch 1080p display and 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. Its red duds look similar to the ones found on the red HTC One and red HTC One mini, but it's worth noting that the red One max's plastic accents are also painted red like the One mini, not black like the original One.
In other colorful HTC One news, the gold HTC One is now available for purchase in the U.K. Retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u both have the champagne-colored handset on offer for carriers like O2, EE, T-Mobile, Orange and Vodafone. Pricing for the golden One starts out at free with a 24-month commitment and £29 per month rate plan. Just like the four other One colors, this gold version features a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera and 32GB storage.
I've said before that having more options when shopping for a smartphone is always good, and apparently HTC believes the same thing. The Taiwanese device maker has churned out both mini and max-sized versions of its flagship One and has painted them in a variety of colors, giving consumers a pretty wide range of options when considering a new HTC-made handset. Unfortunately, that 18k gold-plated One still isn't one of those options, but I suppose that this gold-colored model is an acceptable substitute for those that want to add a little bling to their lives.
