Ever heard of Meizu? If not, you will soon. The Chinese manufacturer today announced that it plans to make its U.S. debut at CES 2014 in January. The show will be the first part of Meizu's long-term strategy to compete in the States, and it plans to take advantage of the big CES stage to show off a line of smartphones. Meizu didn't offer up any details on the products that it plans to have on display.
Meizu has released a number of Android-powered devices to date, including some pretty high-end hardware. Back in early September it introduced the Meizu MX3 (shown above), a handset with a 5.1-inch 1800x1080 display, Exynos 5 Octa processor, 2GB RAM and up to 128GB of built-in storage. It'll definitely be interesting to see what kind of devices Meizu plans to use to break into the U.S. market, and because the U.S. wireless market is so carrier-centric, I'm also looking forward to learning about what agreements, if any, that Meizu has with the operators here. The good news is that with CES less than a month away, it won't be long before all is revealed. Stay tuned.
