The Android 4.4.2 updates for Google Play edition hardware continue to roll out this morning, with the next lucky recipient being Sony's new Z Ultra. XDA-Developers forum member "cob2004" posted screenshots of the Z Ultra's Android 4.4.2 update, which weighs in at a whopping 444.1MB in size and bumps the giganto-phone up to build KOT49H.
The update itself only mentions that it includes performance improvements and bug fixes. After installing it and checking around, cob2004 claims that it packs in fixes for issues related to Google Now voice commands, a bug that prevented users from entering the Security section of the Settings menu and an issue that would cause the device to crash whenever the user tried to uninstall an app.
It's unclear how the Google Play edition Z Ultra managed to make it onto Google's virtual shelves and into the hands of users with such major bugs, but it's good to see Google and Sony addressing them in a speedy fashion. If you've already got a Z Ultra that has stretched out your pocket and made itself at home there, you should keep an eye out for the update to hit your device in the coming days. It's also worth noting that Sony has posted the open source files for the update on its Developer World website if you're into that sort of thing.
