Today was the day that Motorola was planning to offer a Cyber Monday special on the Moto X that would see no contract versions of the flagship device sold with a $150 discount. The Moto Maker website apparently hadn't recovered from the long Thanksgiving weekend, though, and so many folks were unable to complete their order. The good news is that Motorola announced tonight that it plans to run the promotion again.
Motorola announced tonight that, as a result of its Moto Maker site issues, it will once again offer its Moto X Moto Maker discount on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and again on Monday, Dec. 9. The offer will go live at 12:00 p.m. ET on those dates, and Moto says that it plans to add more devices in order to help meet demand.
It's a bummer that the Moto Maker website was having so many problems processing orders today, not only because getting a $150 discount on a no contract Moto X is a good deal, but also because Motorola originally announced the deal last week and so I'm sure that there were many folks that were looking forward to the sale all weekend. Kudos to Moto for not only pledging to try the promo again, but also doing it a second time next week, giving more consumers a chance to get in on the cheap Moto X action. I just hope that the company can use the time in between the sales to ensure that Moto Maker can withstand a rush of bargain-hungry shoppers.
UPDATE: Motorola has shed a bit more light on its plans for its Moto X sale do-over. The company says that the Wednesday and Monday sales will only apply to custom Moto Maker units because its Developer Edition Cyber Monday sale is sold out.
