During the morning yesterday, I couldn't help but scribble some thoughts down on Google's and LG's next Nexus. The phone had been on my mind constantly over the last few weeks thanks to all those leaks and rumors, and I honestly just couldn't take it anymore. The anticipation of Google's announcement just grew to "epic proportions," and the fact that Google just announced the device without fanfare didn't matter at all to me. They announced it. That's all I wanted.

There was some hesitation there, though. There had to be. I was confident in my assumptions about what Google would unveil as the next Nexus, all the way back earlier this year when the initial rumors started to swirl. We heard that Motorola had a new Nexus handset coming down the pipe, and there were some rumblings that even Sony would be able to get a chance at the premiere lineup.

My hesitation came from the fact that rumors are just rumors, and while we can usually get some clear guesses, that's all they are until the final reveal. As I said, I was confident in my assumptions, but I had to taper my expectations. Google could have very well made all those rumors up, even forced a few leaks here and there, just to get everyone off their game.

That didn't happen, though, thankfully. The Nexus 5 turned out to be exactly what we all thought it would be: a reworked version of LG's popular G2, with all the same power under the hood, and with only some minor changes to the physical design. I think if we still threw around the whole "super phone" thing, the Nexus 5 could easily earn that title.

With great power, though, comes the responsibility to sell out.

The Nexus 4 sold out quickly, and there was a lot of conversations popping up about stock level back then. That hasn't happened so much this time around, despite the fact that the Nexus 5 sold out pretty dang quickly. In fact, if you were to buy one right now, you'd have to wait a few weeks before it shipped to your door. It begs the question, yet again, how long have you waited to get your phone after you buy it?

Finding a wait time for a popular device isn't any surprise those days. Apple's iPhones usually find a lengthy wait time right after launch, too. And I can't help but think Google and LG are both happy with the fact that the Nexus 5 has its own wait times, too.

But, are you happy with the wait times? They were quick to pop up right after the device went on sale yesterday, so for anyone who had to wait until today to order their potential new phone, it might have been a bit of a shock. If you're curious, the white 32GB Nexus 5 will leave Google's warehouses in 2 to 3 weeks. The black 16GB Nexus 5 won't leave for 3 to 4 weeks. So, depending on the model you want, you could order it now and not see it until practically December.

Is it worth it? After all, the Nexus 5 is indeed a powerful device with a cheap, off-contract price tag, so maybe it is worth waiting. Plus, Google and LG could always resupply the stock, and the wait could be cut down significantly before that wait time wraps up.
