After appearing in some leaked photos and renders earlier this year, the BlackBerry 10-powered Porsche Design P'9982 today got one step closer to hitting store shelves and consumers' pockets. Some newly-published FCC documents show that the device, going by the model number RGF111LW, has been given the green light for use in the U.S. Most of the information included with the filing is pretty boring stuff, but one interesting detail buried inside the docs is that underneath its classy leather backside, the P'9982 boasts support for AT&T-friendly HSPA and LTE bands.
As is usually the case with FCC approvals, the fact that the P'9982 has been okayed for use in the U.S. doesn't guarantee that it'll see a proper launch here or that its retail debut is near. However, it does show that whenever this luxury 'Berry does go on sale, it'll play nicely with AT&T's LTE network.
So when might we see the Porsche Design P'9982 launch? That's still a mystery for now, but Tbreak has heard that a BlackBerry event may be taking place in Dubai on Nov. 20 and that a new BlackBerry device is coming soon. Because the Z30 is still a pretty fresh device, the site suggests that this mysterious Nov. 20 event could be the P'9982's coming out party. There's been no concrete evidence to support that rumor quite yet, but it's certainly something to keep in mind. For now all we know is that anyone that ponies up what will likely be a fairly high price for this P'9982 will be able to surf AT&T's LTE airwaves while on U.S. soil.
