Curious about exactly what that updated Google Glass hardware looks like? Apparently you're not alone, as the official Google said today that it's gotten a lot of questions about the new device after announcing yesterday that existing Explorers will soon have the opportunity to swap out their existing Glass for an updated unit.
The company took to its Google Glass page on Google+ today to post a couple of photos of the new eyewear, and overall it doesn't look terribly different from the units that are currently in use. The one major addition is the mono earbud, which goes into a user's right ear and is connected to the back of the Glass touchpad. Google has previously said that this updated Glass unit will also work with future lines of shades and prescription lenses.
Google has been testing its Glass eyewear with members of an Explorer program for most of 2013. In addition to gaining access to the refreshed Glass hardware in these photos, Explorers can now invite three friends to purchase their own Glass hardware for $1,500 per unit. A full-on consumer launch of Google Glass isn't expected to take place until 2014, so if you've been itching to get a unit of your own and you're a fan of the hardware in these new photos, you may want to start work on befriending anyone that you see walking around Glass on their face.
