In week 85 on PhoneDog’s Official Smartphone Rankings, the HTC One retained the first place position on the People’s Choice chart. With a metal body and wide availability in the U.S., the One continues to perform admirably. But the Expert’s Choice chart told a different story, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 moving into the first place position. In what is now a direct battle between the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which smartphone will pull ahead in the critical holiday shopping season?
MT PLEASANT, SC – October 23, 2013 – For 85 weeks, PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR) has been the gold standard for ranking the best smartphones on the market by placing votes from readers and experts alike in respective charts each week. Last week, the HTC One continued its lead on the People’s Choice chart, garnering 614 votes. Despite the People’s Choice win, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 edged out the HTC One on the Expert’s Choice chart, obtaining 44 points. The newest iteration in the popular Galaxy Note line, the Galaxy Note 3 features a 1080p HD display, improved S Pen, and offers compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 retained its second place position on the People’s Choice chart for another week with 379 votes, while third place was awarded to the LG G2 with 79 votes. The Galaxy S 4 dropped to fourth place on the People’s Choice chart with 55 votes, while the Apple iPhone 5s secured the fifth place spot with 46 votes. On the Expert’s Choice Chart, the HTC One fell to second place with 40 points, while the Apple iPhone 5s held the third place position with 35 points. In fourth place, the Samsung Galaxy S 4, obtaining 31 points. Rounding out the list in fifth place, the Moto X with 17 points.
“As preparations for the holiday shopping season begin, the OSR stage is set for a showdown between the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Note 3,” said Aaron Baker, Director of Content and Partnerships at PhoneDog.
