Looks like next week just got a little more jam-packed. Google is now sending out invitations to a Google Play event in New York City that'll take place at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 24, just two days after Apple and Nokia are scheduled to hold shindigs of their own. The invitation received by Geek.com encourages us to join Google "for a night out with Google Play" that will include music, movies, games and a performance from Capital Cities, the band behind the current hit "Safe and Sound."
So what might Google have in store for us? With all of the Nexus 5 leaks that've been popping up lately, that's likely the first thing that comes to mind for most. However, one of Geek.com's "reliable sources" claims that there won't be any hardware shown at the event. The tipster didn't give any suggestions for what, if anything, Google may actually be planning to show, so for now we'll just have to sit and speculate. What do you think the focus of this Google Play event will be?
UPDATE: Now Android Police has chimed in with its own tidbit of information on this event. The site claims to have been told by its own "credible source" that there won't be any news announced at this event. If true, that's definitely a bit of a bummer.
