When the Moto X made its official debut back at the beginning of August, AT&T touted the fact that it would be the lone carrier in the U.S. that would be offering the Moto Maker customization tool to its customers. Verizon promised that Moto Maker would be opened up to its subscribers at some point later in 2013, though, and now it looks like we may have a date on which the big red carrier's users will finally be able to get their creative juices flowing.
According to a tweet from prolific leakster @evleaks, Motorola's Moto Maker customization process for the Moto X will be opened up to Verizon customers on Nov. 11. The only timeframe given by Verizon for its Moto Maker launch is a vague "later this year."
The Moto Maker tool is one of the tentpole features of Motorola's flagship Moto X smartphone, allowing customers to customize the colors of the front and rear panels, volume and power buttons and camera ring. Other customization options include the ability to add a power on greeting and pack in some color-matched headphones.
We haven't really seen a bundle of tools like Moto Maker offered with a smartphone in the past, which is why it's kind of a bummer that it isn't currently open to more consumers. I'm betting that there are some creative folks on all of the U.S. operators, so here's to hoping that this new rumor holds true so that Verizon subscribers will soon get the opportunity to show the Moto X designs that they can crank out.
