It's been less than a month since Sony made its the Xperia Z1 officially official, but it looks like the company may not be wasting any time getting to work on a "mini" variant of its flagship smartphone.
A brochure from Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo has been posted by XperiaBlog with what is said to be the spec list for an "Xperia Z1 f," which appears to be a shrunken version of the Xperia Z1. Interestingly, this leaked document suggests that even though this may be a mini phone, that doesn't mean that it's got low-end specs.
According to the doc, the Xperia Z1 f will pack a 4.3-inch 1280x720 display, 20.7-megapixel rear camera and even a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. Rounding out the rumored feature set is a 16GB storage, 2GB RAM and a 2300mAh battery packed into a body that measures 127mm x 64.9mm x 9.4mm.
Miniature versions of flagship smartphones are one of the popular trends in mobile lately, but the problem is that these smaller devices turn out to be fairly underpowered. That's not the case with this Xperia Z1 f, though, as the presence of a 20.7-megapixel shooter and Snapdragon 800 chip could make this a pretty respectable little phone. Some might say that the 9.4mm casing might be a little thick, but getting high-end specs in a phone with a small-ish screen might be worth taking on a little added girth. Now we just have to wait and see if this Xperia Z1 f turns out to be the real deal. Fingers crossed, folks.
