Just a day after Google issued a major update to its Hangouts app for Android, the company's chat service appears to have contracted a bug.
Obviously a bug that causes messages intended for one recipient to be sent to someone else is a bit of a problem, especially when it comes to a widely-used service like Google Talk. Until Google can get the issue resolved, it's probably wise to avoid sending any sensitive messages over Talk/Hangouts, or simply switching to another method of communication. Stay tuned and I'll give you a shout once more details on the situation are available.
UPDATE: Google now says that it has identified the cause of the bug and that it's currently working to fix it. Service is said to be restored for some users, and Google expects that the problem will be resolved for everyone "in the near future."
