Jonesing for another peek at Android 4.4 KitKat following yesterday's status bar icon leak? We may have gotten just that, if a pair of images shared by 9to5Google are legit.
The site claims to have received two photos that show the built-in Messages and Phone apps from a device running Android 4.4. Up at the top of each screen are light status bar icons similar to what we saw in yesterday's leak, but this time around the status bar itself also seems to be changing colors based on the main hue of whatever app is currently running. For example, in the left image we can see the green hue of the Messages app icon present in the status bar.
In addition to these status bar-related changes, these leaked shots show that the Messages and Phone apps themselves have also gotten a slight KitKat makeover. The Messages app features controls in its upper right corner and Mr. Jingles smack dab in the middle of the screen, and the purported Phone app now has a lighter overall look and feel.
Google officially announced Android 4.4 KitKat earlier this month, but the company has yet to reveal any of the changes or new features that the update contains. While we've yet to get wind of any significant changes, the leaks that have surfaced so far suggest that Google's got at least some tweaks planned to help freshen up the Android UI.
It's certainly possible that El Goog's got more tasty treats packed into its KitKat, but we'll have to wait for Google to open up a bit more before we know for sure. The good news is that the official German Facebook page for KitKat recently claimed that Android 4.4 will be available in October, so it may not be much longer before the update is finally unwrapped.
