Neither Alcatel nor T-Mobile have made any announcements regarding a new Android smartphone known as the "One Touch Fierce," but thanks to a new entry in the database of the Federal Communications Commission, we now know that such a device is on the way.
The FCC's entry for the One Touch Fierce contains several images of the unit's Alcatel and T-Mobile-branded exterior, as well as a user manual that reveals some of the device's features. The included documents suggest that the One Touch Fire is an Android 4.x smartphone with a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi Calling support, three capacitive navigation buttons, a non-removable 1800mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a second shooter around front.
There's not a ton of information available about the One Touch Fierce's straight-up spec list quite yet, but so far it looks like the device could fall somewhere in the mid-range of T-Mobile's Android lineup. When it comes to the features that we do know about, the microSD slot on the One Touch Fierce is a welcome sight, and I'm sure that several T-Mobile folks will be pleased to see that Wi-Fi Calling support is also onboard.
It's unclear when the Alcatel One Touch Fierce might touch down on T-Mobile. Now that it's passed through the FCC, though, it's at least one step closer to those magenta shelves.
UPDATE: Our amigos at TmoNews have gotten hold of some photos of the Alcatel One Touch Fierce in the wild, giving us another peek at this unannounced hardware. One of the photos shows that the One Touch Fierce is powered by Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
