Samsung may have hinted at what it's got planned for its Sept. 4 Unpacked 2013 event in the invitations that it sent out, but apparently a company executive isn't as big on being secretive. Lee Young-hee, EVP of Samsung's mobile division, has confirmed to the Korea Times that her firm will show off both its Galaxy Gear smartwatch and the Galaxy Note III at the Sept. 4 shindig. Lee went on to say that the Galaxy Gear won't include a flexible display, but she did promise that it will "enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways."
Lee didn't have much of anything to say about the Galaxy Note III, but the good news for phone/tablet hybrid fans is that a new leak has surfaced to whet their appetites until Sept. 4. Images posted by Sonny Dickson, known for his leaks of upcoming iPhone 5S and 5C parts, claim to show the front panel of the Galaxy Note III. The part looks like an evolution of the Galaxy Note II's frontside, sporting a large and rectangular design with corners that are a smidge less rounded than those on the Note II.
There hasn't been a ton of solid leaks on the Galaxy Note III's spec sheet so far, but one recent report did suggest that Samsung's latest giganto-phone will feature a 5.68-inch 1080p display and 13-megapixel rear shooter. Those sound like totally reasonable upgrades, as they would give the Note III a slight bump in screen size and resolution over its predecessor as well as a camera that's similar to the Galaxy S 4. Thankfully, we've only got one more week to wait before the remainder of the new Note's spec list is filled out. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: Parts seller ETrade Supply has posted more photos of what may be the Galaxy Note III's front panel. In line with previous leaks, the report says that the Note III's display will measure 5.68 inches in size. You can find one clear image below and several more over at ETrade Supply's site.
