Get excited, Sprint customers, because your first taste of BlackBerry 10 is nearly here. Sprint announced this morning that it plans to launch the BlackBerry Q10 this Friday, Aug. 30, at a price of $199.99 with a two-year commitment.
Sprint's flavor of the Q10 is similar to the model that BlackBerry introduced earlier this year. That means that it's packing a 3.1-inch 720x720 Super AMOLED touchscreen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 32GB storage (with microSD slot for additional space) and a 2,100mAh battery powering the whole package. Oh yeah, and there's also a physical QWERTY keyboard, a feature that's becoming increasingly rare in the smartphone world.
Sprint revealed earlier this year that while it planned to support BlackBerry 10, it would be passing on the full-touch Z10. As a result, the Q10 will be the Now Network's first BB10-powered handset. It's kind of a bummer that Sprint customers have had to wait this long to give BlackBerry Hub and other BlackBerry 10 features a go for themselves, but the good news is that the BlackBerry drought on Sprint is finally almost over, and I'm betting that QWERTY addicts and BlackBerry itself are both glad to see relief in the form of the Sprint-branded Q10.
