Lucky enough to have a Chromecast plugged into your receiver or TV? If so, you'll be happy to hear that Google is pushing out a new update to its media streamer. This update brings the Chromecast up to build 12940 and brings with it better discovery of Chromecast hardware and improved stability for Google Play Movies.
In addition to this build 12940 update, Google announced that its pushed out version 1.01 of the Google Cast SDK preview. Included with this new software are Android and iOS libraries and documentation on the Receiver, Chrome and Android APIs. There's also a fix for an iOS bug that changes "namespace" to "protocolNamespace" that enables ObjectiveC++ development.
Both updates sound like nice little mid-week surprises for Chromecast owners and developers. Sure, they may not be huge, but just about any update is a good update. Google says that the Chromecast update will roll out to users over time and that no action needs to be taken to receive it, so if you've got a Chromecast plugged into your entertainment center, you can rest easy knowing that it'll soon be better a better streamer than it was just a day or two ago.
