Owners of non-Nokia Lumia Windows Phone hardware may be feeling a little left out after the Finnish firm began pushing its Amber update yesterday, but it turns out that there's another Windows Phone device that's receiving an update of its own.
AT&T has announced that its version of the HTC Windows Phone 8X is now receiving the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update, which brings the device up to OS version 8.0.10327.77 and firmware revision number 3030.0.34101.502. Here's what's included with the 207MB update:
Like GDR1 before it, GDR2 is like a maintenance update for Windows Phone 8 devices, bringing with it a handful of improvements that are sprinkled throughout the OS. AT&T has also decided to enable support for LTE bands 2 and 5 on its 8X, just like it recently did with the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4, suggesting that the big blue carrier may be planning to start utilizing those airwaves for its LTE network in the near future.
AT&T customers rocking an HTC Windows Phone 8X will need to connect to Wi-Fi before attempting to install this update. After completing that step, users can perform a manual update check by heading into Settings > Phone update > Check for update.
