Sprint may be known for using the color yellow in its branding and advertising, but it looks like the carrier's unofficial second color might be purple. Sprint today announced that it's adding a Purple Mirage version of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 to its lineup, following the 2012 launch of an Amethyst Purple variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III. The carrier says that its purple Galaxy S 4 will be available through telesales and in stores today for $199.99 with a two-year commitment, with an online launch scheduled for Aug. 16.
The Purple Mirage Galaxy S 4 is exactly the same as the White Frost and Black Mist variants that are currently available at Sprint, meaning that buyers will be getting a device with a 5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 13-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1.9GHz quad-core processor and 4G LTE connectivity. Obviously the words "Purple Mirage" won't drive everyone to grab their wallet and drive to their nearest Sprint store, but hey, it's always good to have more color options when shopping for a new smartphone.
