Still trucking along with a Motorola XOOM tablet on Verizon? If so, your dedication to your device may soon be rewarded. According to Droid-Life, Motorola has begun alerting Verizon XOOM owners that the Jelly Bean update soak test that we first got wind of in early May is finally about to get underway. Motorola explains the delay between the test's announcement and actual start by saying that it had to "go back to the drawing board." The good news is that Moto plans to begin pushing the test update to users this morning.
Motorola's latest email doesn't mention what this update is all about, but the message that it sent out back in May referred to the test as "an early preview of a new Jelly Bean software release." So long as Motorola's decision to "go back to the drawing board" didn't also include "removing Jelly Bean," it sounds like Verizon XOOM owners may finally find themselves moving on up from Ice Cream Sandwich to Google's latest dessert. For now we'll just have to wait for more information to leak out or for Verizon to approve the update and post its support documents. Once either happens, you can bet that I'll give you a shout.
