We've already seen the Moto X in more images and videos than I care to count, but one detail about the device that's remained a bit hazy is exactly how it stacks up to other popular smartphones in terms of size. Wonder no more, friends, because Taylor Wimberly has taken to Google+ to share an image of the Moto X sizing up some of its competition.
The image depicts a Moto X in a lineup with an iPhone 5, DROID RAZR and Galaxy S 4, which feature 4-inch, 4.3-inch and 5-inch screens, respectively. The Moto X and its 4.7-inch display are resting between the iPhone 5 and DROID RAZR, showing that Motorola has learned how to trim bezels since late 2011. Wimberly says that Motorola believes the Moto X to be the most "compact high-end Android phone" around.
It's also worth noting that while recent leaks have shown the Moto X running a near-untouched version of Android, this image depicts the device with some small Motorola UI touches. Wimberly suggests that this is because the image is "a couple months old" and may have been made before Motorola had finalized the look of the X's home screen.
Unsurprisingly, that's not the only Moto X leak that's trickled out today. A set of images posted by FanaticFone claims to show the front panel of the Moto X, which is being referred to as "Magic Glass." The shots suggest that Motorola has designed the X's face in a way so that the glass and sides of the unit appear to form one continuous curve, making it feel as though the device has a wrap-around frame. While there's no confirmation that this part is genuine, it does bear markings that are similar to ones we've seen in previous Moto X leaks.
The final Moto X leak concerns one small (literally) detail that could have frequent phone switchers reaching for a SIM adapter. According to a photo shared by GSM Insider, the Moto X may utilize a nano-SIM card similar to the one used by Apple's iPhone 5. The nano-SIM is a bit smaller than the micro-SIM that's used by most other recent smartphones, and so consumers that find themselves frequently popping their SIM out of one phone and into another may need to invest in a set of SIM card adapters if they plan to buy a Moto X.
Motorola will unveil the Moto X this Thursday, Aug. 1, giving us our first official glimpse at the oft-leaked Android phone. The Moto X is expected to sport a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 4G LTE support and support for several different carriers. It's also rumored that buyers will be able to customize the color of their Moto X, meaning that you could be able to buy that flashy green unit that we saw yesterday if this black one isn't striking your fancy. Pricing and availability are two details that are still up in the air for now, but with Motorola's event just 48 hours away, it may not be long before that changes.
