Boost Mobile quietly snuck a new Android smartphone into its lineup today, launching the Samsung Galaxy Prevail 2 on its website. Available now for $179.99, the Prevail 2 packs a 4-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, 1.4GHz processor and 3G connectivity. It also comes preloaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. If that sounds like a device that you'd be willing to open your wallet for, you can find a bright orange "Add To Cart" link awaiting your click right here.
Meanwhile, if you're interested in getting in on the waterproofing trend that seems to be pretty hot in the mobile world right now, Sprint announced today that it and Boost Mobile will soon be joining in on the action with a new smartphone that's not afraid of a little splishing and splashing.
The Kyocera Hydro Edge, originally announced back in May, will be available at Sprint starting on July 19 and at Boost Mobile on July 23. Sprint customers can expect to pony up $19.99 with a two-year commitment and $50 mail-in rebate, while Boost Mobile folk will be shelling out $149.99 since they're going the contract-free route.
As far as specs go, one of the Hydro Edge's main features is its ability to be submerged in up to 3.28 feet of water for a maximum of 30 minutes. The Kyocera-made smartphone also features Smart Sonic Receiver technology, which uses vibrations to deliver sound to a user's eardrum for better audio in noisy environments. When it comes to its more typical spec list, the Hydro Edge boasts a 4-inch 800x480 display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, 4GB storage, microSD slot, 1,600mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
