Earlier today we learned that the HTC One has started receiving an update to Android 4.2.2, bringing the flagship device up to the latest version of Google's mobile operating system. It looks like the HTC One S won't be quite so lucky, as HTC has confirmed that that model won't get any more Android OS updates. The company issued a statement containing the bad news to Engadget, saying that while it knows that its customers will be disappointed, it has already optimized the One S with its "amazing camera and audio experiences." HTC's full statement is as follows:
"We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences."
The last major update that the One S received was a bump up to Android 4.1.1, and it looks like that's where it'll remain for the rest of its life. Today's news is definitely a bummer for anyone that's rocking an HTC One S, especially since it means that those folks won't get a chance to check out Sense 5's new look and features. How many of you are currently using an HTC One S as your daily driver?
