Ready for a nice Thursday surprise, Samsung Galaxy Reverb owners? It's been revealed that your trusty Android phone will begin receiving an update to Jelly Bean starting today, May 16, that'll bring the Galaxy Reverb up to Android 4.1.2. The new baseband version of the update is M950VPMD6. Neither Samsung nor Virgin Mobile have posted an actual changelog for the update, but Reverb owners should be getting Google Now, expandable notifications, smoother performance with Project Butter and all of the other goodies that a bump up to Jelly Bean brings.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Reverb's Android 4.1.2 update is rolling out over the air, so owners may want to keep an eye out for an update notification in the coming days. Any Galaxy Reverb owners that aren't quite feeling up to the task of waiting for the 304.4MB OTA to hit them can try checking for it manually by going into the "About device" section of their phone's "Settings" menu.

The Samsung Galaxy Reverb originally launched on Virgin Mobile back in September 2012 with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in tow. At the time of its release, there was no mention of whether or not it'd be updated to Jelly Bean, which makes today's news a bit of a surprise. If you're a Galaxy Reverb owner that hasn't yet abandoned this post to start hammering on your "Check now" button, you've reached the end, so you can now go start waiting for Android 4.1.2 to roll its way to your neck of the woods.
