Still got a Verizon-enabled Motorola XOOM laying around? If so, it looks like you and your tablet will soon be on the receiving end of a tasty treat. The folks at Droid-Life have gotten hold of an email sent from Motorola to members of its Motorola Feedback network that indicates that a Jelly Bean update soak test will be getting underway soon. In the email, Motorola invites members of the MFN to "to participate in an early preview of a new Jelly Bean software release," but doesn't provide any other information about the contents of the update.
We've known since late 2012 that the Verizon XOOM would be bumped up to Android 4.1, but ever since the update's Q1 2013 release window came and went without any Jelly Beans in sight, it's been unclear when it might actually be released. While we still don't know the precise start date of the rollout, the fact that Motorola is sending soak test invitations suggests that a public launch isn't too far off, so long as there aren't any major bugs discovered during the preview. Now we just have to wait for an official announcement from Motorola and Verizon. How many of you are still rockin' the original Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet?
