Tempted to pick up an HTC One after Aaron's recent head-to-head-to-head comparison of the AT&T, Sprint and international models? Now may be the time to pull the trigger, because HTC has announced that it's running a trade-in promotion this weekend that will give consumers anywhere between $100 and $375 for their old smartphone when they purchase a One. The promo begins today, May 2, and runs through May 5.
HTC says that its trade-in offer applies to eligible smartphones only, and anyone that's interested in taking advantage of the promo can visit HTC's special trade-in website to get a quote for their device. Some examples of the payouts that HTC will give include $300-$375 for an iPhone 5, $130-$210 for a Samsung Galaxy S III, $100-$184 for a Motorola DROID RAZR and $100 even for a BlackBerry Curve or Bold.
In order to be eligible for the promotion, consumers must purchase an HTC One, obtain a quote and save or print a shipping label between May 2 and May 5. The trade-ins themselves need to be postmarked by May 31.
As we've noted in the past, anyone that's interested in dumping their old mobile hardware in order to upgrade to something new has quite a few options available to them. Obviously each method has its pros and cons, but carrier and manufacturer trade-in offers tend to be some of the simplest ways to get cash for old devices that can be used for a new phone or tablet. That looks to be the case with weekend HTC's trade-in promotion, and so this offer may be worth looking into for anyone whose interest in the One has been piqued lately.
