The name "HTC M4" first popped up on our radar earlier this year, hinting at a phone that would serve as a smaller sibling to the HTC One (which was codenamed "M7"). It looks like our suspicions about the device may have been correct, as a purported image of the HTC M4 depicts the device as a shrunken version of the flagship One.
The render, posted to PhoneArena by @evleaks, shows a handset that looks nearly identical to the One. There's a set of front-facing speakers on the M4 as well as an HTC logo that's flanked by Back and Home buttons. The one noticeable difference between the M4 and the One is in the placement of the flash for the rear camera, with the former's flash going above the camera while the latter's is to the side.
The specs included with today's leak remain mostly unchanged from what we heard about the M4 back in February. The upcoming phone reportedly packs a 4.3-inch 720p display and dual-core processor, which are steps down from the 4.7-inch 1080p screen and quad-core chip found inside the HTC One. We're also told to expect the M4 to pack an UltraPixel camera, 16GB storage, 2GB RAM, LTE support and a non-removable 1,700mAh battery.
As far as availability goes, it's said that the HTC M4 could arrive near the end of the second quarter. There's no word yet on what the M4 could be known as once it's made official, but considering all of the effort that HTC has put into building its One brand as of late, I wouldn't be surprised to see the M4 be christened a member of the One family. May I suggest the name "HTC One Half"?
UPDATE: @evleaks just added one other small tidbit of information to today's HTC M4 rumors, claiming that the device will be hitting AT&T in the U.S.
