Along with all of the recent information that's surfaced about Facebook Home, the company's "New Home on Android," details of a new HTC device codenamed "Myst" have been trickling out. Now it looks like we may be getting our first peek at just what that HTC device will look like. A new image of a phone referred to as the "HTC first" has been posted to Twitter by @evleaks, and while there's no information about the device accompanying the image, the first lines up with what previous HTC Myst leaks have said that the phone will look like.
While examining the image that's leaked out today, we can see that the HTC first sports a volume rocker on its side, a power/lock button up top and what looks like a camera in the upper corner of its face. Near the bottom of the phone's front is a centered button with a circle on it, a back button to its left and what could be a function or menu key to its right. The design of this HTC first lines up with a report from last month that claimed that the new HTC device would look similar to an iPhone and sport a centered button at the bottom of its face along with capacitive function keys on either side of it.
As far as actual specs go, previous rumors have us expecting a 4.3-inch 720p display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear and 1.6-megapixel front cameras, 1GB RAM and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean running beneath HTC's Sense 4.5 overlay. That's not exactly a bleeding edge spec list, but I'm sure that the audience that Facebook and HTC are targeting with the first will care more about the Facebook Home software than what kind of processor the thing is packing. Facebook is expected to show off its new Home software at an event on April 4, and the HTC first will likely be the new phone that it's demoed on. There's no word yet on when the HTC first will launch, but we should hear more on Thursday. Stay tuned.
