It's now been more than a year since T-Mobile first announced its plans to launch a 4G LTE network, and earlier this month the magenta carrier teased that that network would finally be going live before the end of March. After today's report that revealed eight cities in which T-Mobile is testing its LTE service, I'm sure that there are many Magenta customers that are pretty eager to just get onto the network already. There's some good news for them tonight, as our pals at TmoNews have gotten hold of a T-Mobile document that reveals not only the seven markets that the operator will be launching LTE in, but also the date that the service will finally be going live.
According to the newly-leaked image, T-Mobile's LTE network will officially go live on March 26, which is the same date that T-Mo has scheduled an event at which it's expected to detail its new UNcarrier Value plans. As expected, both Las Vegas and Kansas City are part of the first batch of cities that'lll have access to T-Mobile's LTE airwaves. The remaining five towns that'll be home to T-Mobile LTE come March 26 are Phoenix, Ariz., San Jose, Calif., Houston, Texas, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Md.
It's worth noting that, of the aforementioned list of eight cities where T-Mobile LTE network testing is underway, only three are actually included in this launch list. The other five are Denver, Colo., New Orleans, La., New York, N.Y., San Diego, Calif. and Seattle, Wash. It's not yet known exactly when T-Mobile's LTE network will officially be going live in those areas, but with testing already underway, it's certainly possible that an official launch isn't far off.
As far as LTE-capable hardware goes, the document lists three devices that T-Mobile will have on offer once it flips the switch on its new network. First is the Samsung Galaxy Note II, which was recently updated to support T-Mobile's LTE service. Next up is the BlackBerry Z10, which is slated to hit T-Mobile's shelves next week. The final device is the Sonic 2.0 mobile hotspot. That's the hotspot that we got a peek at back in February and, according to this image, will launching in alongside the Z10 on March 26. So, now that we've gotten the rundown on T-Mobile's 4G LTE launch plans, how many of you will be hopping onto the new network when it goes live or shortly thereafter?
