Today doubleTwist announced Magic Radio, its addition to the ever-growing list of music streaming services. Magic Radio is an Android app that creates playlists for users based on the music in their iTunes library or on keywords such as "Woodstock" or "Brazilian music." After a playlist is created, the listener can then fine-tune it by selecting a new tempo, mood, artist and more. The app is said to draw from a music library of over 13 million tracks, which doubleTwist claims is over 12 times larger than Pandora's music library.
Magic Radio is included as part of the doubleTwist app for Android, which is available now in the Google Play Store for devices running Android 2.3 or higher. The service is ad-free, and customers can try Magic Radio out for free for 7 days. After the trial ends, users will automatically be billed $3.99 per month to continue using the service unless they manually cancel the subscription.
This new Magic Radio service sounds like an interesting option for Android users in search of a new music streaming service, especially with its library of more than 13 million tracks. The service's 7-day trial is sure to lure in more than a few potential users, but it's not yet clear if Magic Radio has what it takes to convince users to pay $3.99 per month after that, especially for folks that are used to not paying a cent for the free ad-supported streaming option on Pandora.
