"Beautiful device, some tiny quirks" By JAKE ROOT on February 17, 2013
So I picked this device up early compared to others; I was lucky enough to buy it in time to receive it in early December. It's now February and I am glad I bought it. Prior to this device I've only used iPhones, but holy **** I'm glad I jumped ship. This phone is absolutely amazing.
Now I'm not going to bore you with how many awesome things it does, because frankly most phones these days do exactly the same types of the things, albeit at different speeds and price points. But I want to cover quickly the things about this device that bug me.
FIRST, the back is glass, which is annoying because it is unlocked and therefore difficult to replace in the event it cracks and/or breaks. LG should send you a new one (as long as they honor the warranty, which they should) but with current demand that might take a while.
SECOND, no LTE. I am fortunate enough not to live in Canada, or somewhere else where the Nexus 4 formally supported LTE (prior to the 4.2.2 update), and I never got to use the LTE functionality. Now had it been included, sure speeds would be quicker, but the device probably would have cost more and would have shit(tier) battery life. Besides, in my area near Seattle, my HSPA+ speeds on AT&T are more than enough.
THIRD, battery life. At first, it totally sucked. But over time, it improved greatly. It seems that leaving WiFi and Bluetooth on at all times seems to help (for whatever reason). I make it through the day most times, but you have to be conservative. If you are a businessman who relies on heavy smartphone use, look at the Note II (and possible a root to get rid of Touchwiz).
Overall, I love my Nexus 4, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm looking forward have immediate updates in the future, one of my favorite things about this device. If you got some money burning a hole in your pocket, look no further.
