LG's had a pretty busy week so far, introducing the new Optimus L Series II devices on Monday and then the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro a day later. The company is wrapping up the week with another big announcement today, revealing that its Optimus L Series of smartphones has now surpassed sales of 15 million units to date. That means that 5 million Optimus L Series devices have been sold in the two months since it announced that the L Series had crossed the 10 million sold milestone, with LG touting that it sold one Optimus L Series unit every second during that two-month span.

The Optimus L Series consists of four handsets: the Optimus L3, Optimus L5 and Optimus L7 that debuted at Mobile World Congress 2012, and the Optimus L9 that was introduced later in the year and eventually made its way onto T-Mobile. LG has been so happy with the sales of the Optimus L Series that it's crafted a line of successors in the Optimus L3 II, L5 II and L7 II, which are expected to be shown off at MWC 2013 later this month. While some of LG's competition may be moving devices at a brisker pace, sales of 15 million units isn't a stat to sneeze at, and it'll be interesting to see if LG can replicate the success that the L Series has had with the L Series II line.
