It was just a few days ago that Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy Note II was treated to a software update, and now it looks like it's AT&T's turn to update is version of the S Pen-toting phone/tablet hybrid. AT&T revealed today that it's begun pushing a new update to its Galaxy Note II that the big blue carrier says contains a "chipset security enhancement." Unsurprisingly, the update is a small one, with Android Central reporting that it clocks in at just 8.5MB in size. The AT&T Note II will be bumped up to baseband version I317UCAMA4 after installation.

Considering AT&T's description of this update's bug fix as a "chipset security enhancement," it seems probably that this update contains a patch for the Exynos exploit that we learned about back in mid-December. This update may not be a big one, but that Exynos vulnerability is definitely something that needs to be taken care of on affected devices, so it's good to see AT&T finally pushing a fix out for its flavor of the Note II. AT&T says that the update began rolling out to users over the air today, Feb. 15, so if your Galaxy Note II has little AT&T globe tattoo on its backside, be sure to keep an eye out for a notification of this new software's arrival in the coming days.
