Last year, EE made some big 4G news in the U.K. last year when it launched the country's first LTE service. Now it's another U.K. operator's turn in the 4G spotlight, as Three U.K. has announced that when its LTE service goes live, it'll include that connectivity in all of its existing and new rate plans without making customers pay an extra fee for the 4G goodness. Three says that its LTE coverage will be going live later this year.
Three U.K.'s current plan selection includes lower-end offerings that include 500MB of data, 200 minutes and 5000 texts for £6.90 ($10.83) per month on a 12 month contract or £9.90 ($15.54) for a 1 month commitment. Three also offers unlimited data packages, like a 1 month contract plan that packs in unlimited data, 200 minutes and 5000 texts for £12.90 ($20.25) per month. With today's announcements, Three's roster of rate plans just became more attractive, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are some non-Three U.K. mobile phone users that'll now be looking into Three when it's time for them to sign up for a new plan. Now we wait for Three to spill more details on its LTE launch plans.
