We're now less than a month away from Valentine's Day, and a new rumor claims that T-Mobile is planning to tempt us to buy a new smartphone for a loved one (or ourselves) to celebrate the holiday. Our pals over at TmoNews have been told that T-Mobile is planning a Valentine's Day sale, which doesn't exactly come as much of a shock since T-Mo has held promotions for Valentine's Day (and nearly every other holiday) in the past. Unfortunately for deal-hungry T-Mobile customers, the rest of the details on this offer are still up in the air for now.
While it's still a mystery as to exactly what kind of deals we can expect from this promotion, it seems likely that they'll be Value-focused. Not only has that been the makeup of the T-Mobile's other recent sales, but the magenta carrier has already said that it'll soon be axing subsidies and going all Value, all the time, so it makes sense that that's the type of plan that T-Mo would promote with a sale next month. The good news is that with a few weeks to go until V Day actually hits, I wouldn't be surprised if more details surfaced soon.
This rumored Valentine's Day sale isn't the only juicy tidbit of T-Mo news (ba-dum-pshh) that has surfaced today, as TmoNews has also been tipped to an upcoming blackout period. The site claims that T-Mobile is planning to a blackout (likely blocking employee vacations) during the last two weeks of March and the first two weeks of April.
Much like the rumored Valentine's Day promotion, the reasoning for this block is currently unknown. That's definitely a large blackout period, though, and TmoNews suggests that Magenta choose that time to officially kick off iPhone sales and make its full switch to Value plans. Obviously that's just a guess at this point, but T-Mobile CEO John Legere did say earlier this month that he expects both the start of iPhone sales and the Value switch to happen "in three to four months as opposed to six to nine months," which would line up nicely with the timing of this rumored vacation block. That also happens to be the same time that T-Mo's BlackBerry 10 device is expected to launch, which could make that period even crazier. More details as we get 'em, friends.
