The past few months have been a bit strange for the Samsung ATIV Odyssey. It was originally announced at Microsoft's big Windows Phone 8 launch event in October, and then a week or two later we were told that it'd be released before the end of 2012. Jan. 1 came and went with no ATIV Odyssey in sight, but the handset popped its head out at CES, and Verizon promised that the phone would finally be arriving at some point "in the coming weeks." That's a pretty vague window of time, but a new rumor has given us an actual date on which the Odyssey might arrive. According to @evleaks, the ATIV Odyssey will finally, really be shipping out on Jan. 24, which is a week from today.
Samsung's ATIV Odyssey features a 4-inch 800x480 display, 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras, 8GB storage, a microSD slot and 4G LTE connectivity. It's certainly not the highest-end Windows Phone 8 device on the market or on Verizon, but considering how lean Big Red's Windows Phone roster has been in the past, it's still good to see more of those products hitting Verizon's shelves. If a Jan. 24 debut is in the cards for the ATIV Odyssey, it shouldn't be long before we get official word on both its launch date and pricing. Taylor's hands-on video with the ATIV Odyssey from CES can be found below to help keep you entertained until then.
