We haven't heard much about the Samsung ATIV Odyssey since its visage was leaked back in November. The Windows Phone 8 device was originally slated to hit Verizon before the end of 2012, but there was no Odyssey to be found on Big Red's shelves once Jan. 1 rolled around. The good news is that although there's still no word on its release, a new leak has given us a bit more information about the Odyssey and just what makes it tick.
A Verizon internal data sheet has been posted today by WPCentral, revealing the full spec rundown on Samsung's upcoming ATIV family member. According to the document, the Odyssey will feature a 4-inch 800x480 Super AMOLED display and 1.2-megapixel camera on its face, 5-megapixel shooter around back and a 2,100mAh removable battery that'll be powering the whole show. Also included with the new device is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (just like the 8X and Lumia 822), 8GB storage, microSD slot, 1GB RAM, global support and 4G LTE connectivity.
If this leaked spec sheet holds true, then it looks like the ATIV Odyssey will slot into the mid-range section of Verizon's Windows Phone lineup, which is kind of a bummer for folks that may have been hoping for another high-end phone to go alongside the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Still, Verizon's selection of Windows Phone devices was pretty lacking before Windows Phone 8 hit, so it's good to see that the big red operator is making up for that by bringing more Windows Phone 8 products to market. There's no word yet on when Verizon customers might actually be able to buy an ATIV Odyssey, but it's possible that more details will be spilled at CES next week. Stay tuned.
