Sprint has kicked off a new promotion to entice smartphone buyers to pick up a tablet to go alongside their new handset. The carrier is knocking $100 off the price of a 4G LTE tablet with the purchase of any smartphone, though customers will need to sign up for a two-year contract and a data plan for the tablet. With the $100 discount in effect, the price of the iPad mini starts out at $359.99, the iPad with Retina display will start at $529.99 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will cost $449.99. This promotion will run through Jan. 10, 2013, and it's worth noting that Sprint says that customers that've purchased a smartphone any time since Sept. 14 can save $100 on an LTE tablet instantly.

Obviously this offer is only going to appeal to customers interested in adding both a new smartphone and LTE-enabled tablet to their gadget arsenal, but for that specific set of people, this offer could be one that's worth looking into. Sprint currently offers tablet-specific data plans that range from $10 per month for 100MB up to $49.99 per month for 6GB. For those that are curious, Sprint's LTE network is currently available in 49 markets, and Hesse and Co. have plans to roll the service out to over 100 more areas in the coming months.
