If you're a smartphone fan that's of the belief that bigger is always better, then you may be the perfect target for Huawei's upcoming Ascend Mate. The device and its 6.1-inch 1080p display were recently shown off at a Huawei store in China by SVP Richard Yu, and as you can see, the handset also posed for a few photos at that time. Along with that huge screen, the Ascend Mate reportedly packs a 1.8GHz HiSilicon K3V3 quad-core processor and 4,000mAh battery packed into a body that measures 9.9mm thick. Yu mentioned on Sina Weibo that the actual specs of the Ascend Mate may differ slightly from what we've heard, but with a debut planned for CES, it won't be long before the final spec list is revealed.

Samsung's Galaxy Note devices are some of the largest smartphones around right now, with the original model touting a 5.3-inch screen and the Note II getting a bump up to a 5.5-inch display.  The Ascend Mate goes past that by taking things into the 6-inch territory, which is a size that some may have thought that only a small tablet would feature. While the aforementioned 5.3 and 5.5-inch screens on the Note devices were thought to be too large by some, the devices have certainly enjoyed some strong sales, and now it looks like Huawei is ready to see if there's consumer interest in something even larger.
