Motorola has officially begun taking pre-orders for the Atrix HD Developer Edition, a handset that's similar in specs to the Atrix HD on AT&T but with an unlockable bootloader. The Atrix HD Developer Edition is priced at $459.99 and will ship out the week of December 16. To compare, AT&T's website currently lists the Atrix HD at $99.99 with a two-year contract or $449.99 sans commitment.
The Atrix HD originally launched on AT&T back in mid-July, complete with a 4.5-inch 1280x720 display, 8-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and a 1,780mAh battery. However, that version is currently not supported in Motorola's official bootloader unlock program, so anyone that'd like a way to easily tinker with the Atrix HD and do things like load up custom ROMs will have to pick up this new Atrix HD Developer Edition. If doing that sounds right up your alley, the "Add to Cart" button is just a couple of clicks away.
