Apple and Samsung have sought to add one another's new devices to a court battle in San Jose in recent months, and now the judge has given them both the green light. As noted by Reuters, U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal has allowed Apple to pursue devices like the Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Jelly Bean as it appears on the Galaxy Nexus, while Samsung has been given approval to add the iPhone 5 to its complaint. Apple did not oppose the addition of the new iPhone, but Grewel warned the Cupertino firm to "think twice" before it opposed any attempts Samsung may make to add more new products, like the iPad mini or fourth-generation iPad.
Apple and Samsung have been involved in a number of legal tiffs around the globe, including a separate California case in which a jury awarded Apple over $1 billion in damages. Considering how aggressively the two companies have been fighting, it's no surprise to see them going after each other's recently-released products. Obviously we still don't know how this case is going to turn out, but with the addition of these new items, it seems like the heat in this battle just got kicked up a notch or two. The case is scheduled to go to trial in 2014.
