October 18 is a big day for Verizon and its customers that are shopping for a new smartphone, as the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD will both be making their retail debut on that date. It looks like Thursday could also be a good day for existing Android users on Verizon, though. Sources speaking to Droid-Life claim that Google Play carrier billing will be enabled for Verizon customers on October 18. A leaked screenshot shows that users will be able to purchase $25 in items per mobile telephone number (MTN), a figure that the site suggests could be a monthly limit.

Carrier billing allows for Android users to purchase goods from the Google Play store and, rather than pay right then with something like a credit card or gift card, charge it to their monthly bill instead. It's a feature that customers on the other big three U.S. carriers have been enjoying for quite a while, and it's good to see that Verizon may soon finally offer its subscribers the same option. So if you're an Android user on Verizon that's been considering picking up a new app or two, maybe you want to hold off a couple of days and give carrier billing a go.
