Good news for Gmail users on Android, as a couple of oft-requested features appear to finally be coming to the Gmail app with the introduction of Android 4.2. The folks at Android Police claim to have gotten hold of a new version of the Gmail app from a system dump of the LG Nexus, and after loading it up on a Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.1, the site shot a video showcasing a few of the new features found in the app. The first is a new swiping gesture that'll allow users to slide their finger across a message to either archive or delete it. An option to undo the archival or deletion is also available. The other new features include the ability to pinch-to-zoom while viewing a message and support for reporting a messaging for phishing.

While this pair of new features may not sound terribly groundbreaking to some, they're abilities that ought to make Gmail easier to use on an Android device. With the LG Nexus device rumored to be debuting at the end of October followed by a mid-November launch, it may not be too long before we get a more official taste of this new flavor of Gmail.
