Back in August, rumors about a Samsung device with the codename "Superior" and model number GT-I9260 began swirling. That number is just a slight bump from the Galaxy Nexus's GT-I9250 identifier, and the Superior was also said to feature a screen similar to the GalNex's, leading some to speculate that Samsung was planning to refresh its newest Nexus device. However, a new image leaked to MobileGeeks has shown that that's not likely the case. The phone is said to be dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Premier, and as you can see in the render, it's got a physical home button and is running Samsung's TouchWiz software atop Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
According to the spec list that was leaked alongside this image, the Galaxy Premier does indeed feature a 4.65-inch 1280x720 Super AMOLED display, as was previously rumored. We're also told to expect a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, NFC, 8GB or 16GB storage, 1GB RAM and a microSD slot.
While the Galaxy Premier may not be a refreshed Galaxy Nexus like some were hoping, the device does appear to have a slight improved feature set over the GalNex. So for anyone that likes the size of the Galaxy Nexus and doesn't mind trading in vanilla Android for a TouchWiz'd version of Jelly Bean, the Galaxy Premier might be worth keeping an eye out for. MobileGeeks claims that the Premier could arrive sometime in the fourth quarter, though there's no word yet on whether or not we'll see the Premier or some sort of variant of it here in the States.
