Good news for Galaxy S III owners concerned about that reset-causing USSD vulnerability that we learned about yesterday, as Samsung has come out with a statement saying that the problem has already been taken care of in a recent software update. The company says that all users should update to the latest software for their Galaxy S III, which can be done over the air, and then they will be protected from the exploit. The company's full statement, sent to Android Central:
"We would like to assure our customers that the recent security issue concerning the GALAXY S III has already been resolved through a software update.
We recommend all GALAXY S III customers to download the latest software update, which can be done quickly and easily via the Over-The-Air (OTA) service."
Meanwhile, Samsung says that it's "conducting an internal review" on how the flaw affects the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note, so owners of those devices may want to avoid any suspicious links for the time being. It's good to hear that Galaxy S III folk should already have the bug-killing update in their possession, and that if you're not running the lastest software on your GSIII for whatever reason, the fix is just an OTA away.
